FIBER TO FASHIONNon-competitive Event: Bring spinning wheels, a loom warped with handspun yarn, and weft fibers ready to be spun. At 9:00 am on Saturday, Nov. 12, spinners begin spinning weft, ply the singles, and give the yarn to the weaver to perform her magic. Display fiber samples and information so observers can discover and learn about your project. We will stop at or before 2:00 pm. We encourage new fiber artists to get together and form a team. Though there are no time, size, or result limitations, suggested shawl size is 1,440 square inches (approx. 20” X 72”) and team members usually include one weaver and four or five spinners. Chairs are provided. We encourage teams to use natural fibers from Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma and/or Louisiana. If the fiber is from a team members’ animals, even better. Please send completed entry form before October 15, 2011, to Sharon Bramblett, 7313 Burleson-Manor Road, Manor, TX 78653. For more information contact Sharon Bramblett sbramblett@mail.utexas.edu or Ruth Davis caru@mailbug.com.
